We all get inspired by the stories we read whether they are fairytales, self-help books or even cookbooks. Show your literary love by making a mason jar candle lined with pages from your favorite book! Here’s a quick DIY project for the whole family as you catch up on each other’s summer reading list.
- 3 mason jars of your choice
- Pages cut out individually from a book (or make a photocopy if you can’t bear to destroy the book!)
- Ribbon or twine
- 3 battery operated tea light candles
- Glue or glue sticks
Lining the inside of the mason jars with book pages
To achieve this, glue two book pages and wrap them around the outside of the jar. This will give you an idea of how many book pages you’ll need to cover the inside of the jar (remember the inside of the jar is slightly smaller). Feel free to trim the edges to your liking and make sure that the book pages fit in the jar properly.
Heart shaped cutout
Once you have figured out the book paper lining’s proper size you can then proceed to add the final touch. Lightly fold the paper where you want your heart cutout so that you can make your cut for the heart shape.
Place your book page lining back inside of the jar and adjust it so it fits properly. Feel free to add glue to the paper if you want it to stick snugly onto the jar.
Tie your ribbon or twine around the top of the jar into a cute bow.
Place your battery operated tea light into the jar (make sure they are on first, before placing them inside the jar) and voila!
For anyone who loves a great novel, this Mason Jar Candle DIY will add a vintage touch to any living room, bedroom and or bathroom. The great thing about this DIY project is that you can leave the candles on without worrying if something will catch on fire (since you will be using battery operated candles).
In any case, safety first and have fun DIY-ing!
