What exactly is Paprika Southern?

Paprika Southern is the magazine for art and style in the South. Published quarterly, Paprika Southern’s content includes interviews with and profiles of artists, entrepreneurs and tastemakers living and working in the South, as well as fashion and lifestyle features and creative non-fiction. Learn more on our about page.

Are you affiliated with any media partner?

At this time Paprika Southern is 100% independently owned and operated.

Where are you located?

Paprika Southern is based out of Savannah, GA.  We cover a mixture of stories local to Savannah that we think have broader national appeal, as well as more regional stories.

How did you transition from an online magazine to a quarterly print publication?

In summer of 2015 we launched a Kickstarter project to fund our transition from an online monthly magazine to a quarterly printed publication. The Kickstarter was successfully funded, and we released our first print issue that fall. You can subscribe or order back issues here.

How can I purchase the magazine?

You can subscribe and order back issues on our subscribe page, or visit one of our local, independent retailers listed on our stockists page.

I’m a retailer–how can I carry Paprika Southern in my brick and mortar store?

We are seeking stockists in the Lowcountry and beyond and would love to talk to you! We are currently self-distributing, so just drop us a line at mail(at)paprikasouthern(dot)com.

Can I still view the past online issues?

Yes! Our archive (24 issues!) is available here and all the past online issues can be viewed for free.

Can my business or brand advertise in Paprika Southern?

We are thrilled to accept advertisements from businesses whose products and visions align with our brand.  Click here to download our media kit and learn more about advertising and partnership opportunities.

Do you have internship opportunities?

We do offer an unpaid internship for qualified college juniors, seniors, or beyond. We are happy to work with your school to fulfill academic credit requirements. Check our opportunities page for all open positions.

I’m an artist/designer/creative/entrepreneur. Will you do a story on me?

We love learning about people who are doing amazing things in the South. Feel free to drop us a line and let us know about your business or whatever else you’re up to, or add mail(at)paprikasouthern(dot)com to your press release list, but we can’t guarantee a story. We are very selective about who we feature and we choose stories that align with the vision and aesthetic of Paprika Southern. Additionally, stories must fit with the other content in a particular issue, without clashing or feeling repetitive. If you contact us and we don’t pursue a story with you, please know there are myriad reasons for it that may have nothing to do with you.

Can I pitch a story to you?

Yes!  Please email a brief summary of your story idea to mail(at)paprikasouthern(dot)com along with writing samples of previous work.  Before submitting a pitch, be sure to page through our archives to get a feel for what kinds of stories we are interested in, and our style.

We are also seeking fiction and creative non-fiction writers to contribute occasional pieces to the magazine.  For more information, email us at mail(at)paprikasouthern(dot)com, and include a writing sample.

I’m an artist; can I submit my portfolio to you?

We love looking at artwork!  Feel free to send us a link to your website or online portfolio at mail(at)paprikasouthern(dot)com.  We can’t guarantee anything, but we do occasionally need artwork to go with a story, or may be able to file it away for future use.  Again, we are unable to offer payment for the use of artwork at this time.

Whether submitting written content or artwork, please take some time to familiarize yourself with the style and aesthetic of Paprika Southern.  While we appreciate many styles and genres, if your work does not fit with our voice, we will be unable to use it.
