While it might just be starting to cool down in Savannah, fall is officially here! Fall is my favorite time of year to dress and to update my look. I love playing with layers in my closet and buying into a few of the newest trends. Below the beautiful Jules of Jules More than Makeup and myself show off some of the wearable and fun fall trends. All of the clothing can be found at Terra Cotta, one of my favorite boutiques!
Dusty Pink and Mock Turtlenecks
While pink can seem like more of a spring or summer color, it is carrying into fall in a slightly darker shade. Jules’ top is the perfect fall pink color! I love pairing it with the black and white sweater and some jeans for a perfect bistro casual look.
Not surprisingly, necklines start to rise in the fall; mock turtlenecks are a great trend to show off this fall. I love the unique look of this open vest with a fitted camisole under. I paired the tops with some on-trend dusty pink pants to complete the look.
Reimagined Sweatshirts and Menswear
For those of you who love the lounge wear trend, this fall is perfect for you. A lot of designers are showing over-sized sweatshirts with leggings and other lounge wear re-worked to be worn out of the house. Jules’ sweater dress with the sweater over is a great example of how to jump on this trend. She looks great and is completely comfortable; bonus: there’s a surprise on the back of her dress!
I absolutely love the menswear trend. Not only are we seeing this in clothing but also accessories: especially shoes and bags. These tuxedo pants work great with the oversized blouse and are a perfect example of how to make menswear still look feminine. I added a pop of color with the bag to soften the starkness of wearing black and white.
Shearling and Cape Coats
These are two of my favorite outfits I pulled from Terra Cotta! Shearling is showing up in all sorts of ways: jackets, coats and accessories. The shearling vest I’m wearing is incredibly flattering and comfortable. I love wearing it over this dress but it looks great over pants as well. As it gets cooler, I would simply add some stockings to the outfit and I’d be all set.
Jules is wearing a great cape that can easily act as a coat. This is a great trend for the south as it doesn’t usually get so cold that we need coats but you may want to add a layer like this to keep you warm. I love how it adds an extra layer of interest to her outfit as well.
A few other fun trends coming your way? Restructured denim, statement furs and velvet everywhere! Keep your eye out for some of these fun trends this season and of course support your local boutiques while you invest in your fall pieces.
