This summer, embrace the natural texture of your hair. Take the season to let hair breathe and air dry in the warmest months, and use gentle, natural formulas composed of salt and rose water to nurture hair. Embrace the casual vibe of summer with a simple fishtail braid and clip for a night out, and re-use garden blooms or floral bouquets tucked into a top knot or milkmaid braid style. Revive tired waves with a rose water mist, and gently scrunch to allow the hair to take on its own natural pattern.
Simple Rose Water Mist
Use rose water mist to hydrate hair prior to styling and create a feminine and calming sense of self. In addition to gently hydrating dried strands, rose also calms an irritated scalp and acts as a natural toner for the skin and scalp.
2 oz. mister bottle
Kettle + glass measuring cup
Spring water
1/2 cup dried rose blooms
Rose absolute oil
Heat up spring water in kettle as you would for prepping to steep a tea. Once boiled, pour over dried rose buds in your measuring cup. Let steep for 10-15 minutes and strain. Pour the rose water into mister bottle and add 12-24 drops of rose absolute oil if desired. Shake well and use within 1 week.
Citrus Floral Salt Spray
Use a salt spray to help revive texture. The salt will add grit and texture, much like ocean water does. Camilla or apricot oil will add shine and softness, and the blend of citrus floral oils also promote shine and will infuse your hair with a bright, summery scent.
2 oz. mister bottle
1 tsp. pink Himalayan salt
1 tsp. Dead Sea salt
2 tsp. camilla or apricot oil
1 1/2 oz. spring water
12 drops tangerine essential oil
3 drops jasmine absolute oil
7 drops neroli essential oil
Combine all ingredients into the mister bottle and shake well until salt has dissolved. Mist on damp or wet hair for textured, beachy waves. Use within 1 week.
