How their surrender shift paved the way for pandemic life

Written by Sophie Leopold

Pivoting seems to be the overarching theme this summer, whether in broad global strokes, or in the career trajectories of our podcast guests. Not unlike Danielle of Love & Moxie in episode one, Jules and Josh Fritz of Jules Loves Me, know a thing or two about setting aside the familiar to take a risk for the unconventional. The before and afters may appear incongruent on the outside, but could only feel meant to be at the core.

Jules’ professional life blossomed as a celebrity makeup artist. While cash flowed, they weren't exempt from a sense of stilted fulfillment. Jules recalls a poignant moment when Josh showed an inclination to change paths, knowing it was time to slow down and listen. Together they worked to hear one another, and decided to start over. Easier said than done, Jules admits. Their version of a fresh beginning kicked off by selling almost all belongings, a lengthy transition Jules says was heavy with unexpected emotion. After a year of pairing down to the essentials, Jules, Josh, and their first baby became camper nomads.

Out on the road, freed from the grips of hustle culture, Jules and Josh were confronted with the stark contrast of the fast-paced routines left behind. Their previous day to day was spent running after busy-work, and often in circles. During full-time travel, it was impossible to expand professionally, but the opportunities for personal expansion grew infinitely. Getting off the grid gave space for surrendering to the present, and turned out to be a rigorous crash course in coping with a worldwide pandemic. Today, Jules and Josh reflect on how these early exercises in living moment to moment lended a stronger confidence in the face of vast unknowns.

As Jules and Josh steadied in their unique approach to life, it became clear they had goods to share with a wider audience. The Jules Loves Me website developed into the bridge between their spiritual discoveries and everyone joining the journey. With this second phase of entrepreneurship largely based on live events, the COVID era brought a new set of challenges to test their stress busting skillset. True to form, Jules Loves Me is adapting to the times, spreading positivity through online platforms. Head on over to julesloves.me for a dose of inspiration through blog posts, podcasts, and virtual discussions. Be sure not to miss episode four of the Paprika Southern podcast for our interview with Jules and Josh in its entirety.
